Colour Run 2025
In the next week we will be launching a new look Colour Run for St Thomas More's in 2025. Having just been recognised for the work of our Mini Vinnies team at the Order of Australia Student Citizenship Awards, and in seeing the diminishing stock of the St Thomas More's Vinnies Pantry during our Mini Vinnies and Teeny Vinnies retreat, the Community Council have made the decision to deviate away from fundraising in 2025 to support those in our community in need. In the coming days the students will hear about our Colour Run Pantry and Back to School Initative that has been developed with Vinnies. There will still be an opportunity to win prizes and of course the children will still engage in the Colour Run on our oval, however students will not be asked to raise money, rather they will bring in items for Vinnies to give to the most vulnerable in our community!
Father's Day and Open Classrooms
We look forward to gathering in the courtyard on Friday for our annual Father's Day Breakfast followed by Open Classrooms. The morning is an opportunity to celebrate our Dad's and Grandfather's, engage in some community building and then head into classroom to see what the students have been learning. Affirmations will be handed out in the courtyard when the bell goes before moving into classrooms together. Thank you to our Year 2 and Kinder families for coordinating this event, particularly Jo and Erin who have worked tirelessly behind the scenes. We hope you like the fresh barista coffee brewed by some of our very own members of the community!
Disco
Our disco is being held next Thursday from 6-7pm in the school hall. The event is currently on Compass and all students attending will need to have completed the event in Compass before the evening. Our Parish is kindly hosting wine and cheese in the Parish Centre during this time so that our parents can have a social event also! We would like to thank our staff for volunteering their time to supervise the disco as it would not go ahead without their commitment. Thanks also to our 3/4 families, particularly Shelle and TeamKids!
Community Council Open Meeting
Our final Community Council Open Meeting will be held on Tuesday 16 September from 6:00 - 7:00pm. This is a great opportunity for members of our community to spend time with our Community Council Executive discussing important topics. There will be an option for attendance online for those families who are unable to travel to the school.
Personalised Plan Meetings
On Tuesday 16 September our staff have made themselves available to meet parents of children who are on Personalised Plans. These meetings are now open to eligible students through the conference booking function in Compass.
Classroom Teacher Position 2026
With our move to 8 classes in 2026 we are now recruiting a new permanent teacher. If you know of any teachers who would be a great fit for St Thomas More's please encourage them to consider our wonderful school!
Congratulations to the following students who will be presented with a certificate which reflects an affirmation from their teacher. These affirmations will highlight their applications to their learning as well as affirm how they have been a person of Wisdom, Courage, and Peace. Affirmations will be handed out at 8.50am on Friday morning. Parents are welcome to attend. |
