Class Placements 2025 - Final Opportunity
The Leadership Team and staff will soon begin the process of creating class groups in 3/4 and 5/6 for next year. When compiling classes, we take into consideration several factors. To support our students, we have invited them to write 5 friends that they would like to see in their class for next year. When creating the classes, our staff will ensure each student has at least one friend from their list.
We believe that every teacher at our school is able to teach any child and will therefore not accept requests for specific teachers. If there is information regarding your child and their class placement that you feel the school is not already aware of and would like considered, please email it to me by the end of next week.
The students will be told their class before our Step Up Afternoon on Wednesday 11 December.
Staffing News
This week Ms Cassandra Halls was successfully appointed to a Classroom Teacher position at St Vincent's Aranda for the 2025 school year. Cassandra has been a valued member of the St Thomas More's Staff for 6 years and we wish her all the best as she embarks on this next move in her career. Cassandra had been scheduled to teach Kindergarten in 2025. An announcement to our Kindergarten students will be sent in the coming weeks as staffing is finalised.
We are pleased to announce the appointment of Mrs Allina Young as a fulltime Classroom Teacher from 2025. Allina brings a wealth of experience teaching in multiple states of Australia and in the United States.
Council Nominations
Following our final meeting of the Community Council Executive we would like to acknowledge the contribution of Leah Hanley who has finished her time with the council this year. Leah has spent time working with members of our local community to establish opportunities for our school to have a canteen and we are so grateful for this time spent.
We will now have two positions available on the Community Council Executive in 2025. If you would like to nominate a member of our community, or self nominate, please contact Luke Donnelly or Michael Kelly (Council Chair) in the coming weeks.

Advent
This Friday 3/4 Green will lead us in our first Advent prayer during the Centred in Faith Gathering. They will light the Advent wreath candle- the HOPE Candle. We wait with HOPE for the coming of Jesus at Christmas. And we wait with HOPE for Jesus' return. We are hopeful because Jesus is the Saviour God has promised us. HOPE is like a light shining in a dark place. As we focus on the candle, we celebrate the HOPE that Jesus brings to us. This week we think about how we can live our school creed to be the HOPE of Jesus for all.
