Dear Parents and Carers,
Thank you
Thank you for keeping your children home when they have been sick. It is very much appreciated. It has meant that we have reduced sickness across the school considerably and our staff have remained well and healthy too.
Any change to the restrictions for Term 4 will be communicated to you as they come to hand. I am unsure at this stage on such events as Yr 6 Graduation, the Kinder Nativity and Kinder 2021 Orientation. I am awaiting direction from Catholic Education (CECG).
Painting works in Holy Faith Hall
The painting is finished and the Hall looks great!
Holiday Hotspots
Just a reminder that if you visit a COVID-19 hotspot during the holidays you will need to follow the ACT Health guidelines on isolating before returning to school in Term 4.
Summer Uniform
A reminder that Summer uniform officially commences in Term 4, so please check the wardrobe to see if any items are needed. A reminder that sports shoes should be predominately white and that black leather school shoes are an essential item of uniform.
First Eucharist
Congratulations to our Yr 3’s who received the Sacrament of Eucharist on Sunday. Special thanks to Fr Josh, Fr Emil, Rossen, Samantha, Brittney, Gwen and Madeleine for contributing to their preparation. It takes a faith-filled community to raise a child.
Icy-Poles
On Friday the students will receive a lemonade icy-pole. Please let the office know if your child is unable to have one. (Peter’s brand – Gluten Free).
Book Week
The parade will be first week back, on the Friday. The theme is “Curious Creatures”. Students can dress-up as any book character.
Enjoy the holiday break! I hope you manage to enjoy the warmer weather and that your children have some “down-time” before returning for a busy Term 4.
Yours sincerely,
Julie Wiley
Principal
Book Week – Curious Creatures, Wild Minds
Book Week at St Thomas More’s School is coming up just after the school holidays. Book Week is held every year to encourage children to develop their love of reading. To celebrate Book Week, we will have a few school events including a parade on Friday 16th October (Week 1). This year’s theme for Book Week is Curious Creatures, Wild Minds.
The children can choose a character from any book that they have enjoyed reading. Costumes can be as simple or as complex as you like, you do not need to buy a costume. Dress up clothes from around the home are great for Book Week characters.
Simply choose a book character and find clothes that reflect what this character wears in the story. You can use cardboard and other materials to help decorate your child’s book week character. The teachers all come to school on this day dressed as their favourite Book Week characters.
