Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome back to Term 2! I hope you and your families had a wonderful Easter. The resurrection part of the Easter story is critical to our faith. According to the Bible, Jesus' death was a sacrifice for the sins of others, but his resurrection represents something even more powerful: the potential for rebirth, salvation, and renewal of faith. Easter is the perfect opportunity for Christians to recommit to their beliefs.
On Monday during our Pupil Free Day, staff had the opportunity to build on their knowledge and understanding of the theory underpinning High Impact Teaching Practice. This term, teachers will continue to focus on applying the Science of Learning research and the teaching practice that aligns with this. Also, on the day we completed a course unit on the key tenets of the Science of Learning and its implications for education practice.
ANZAC Day liturgy
This Friday we have our ANZAC Day gathering, commencing at 9am in Holy Faith Hall. The focus will be on the 100-year centenary of the Royal Australian Air Force. We will start at 9am sharp. We have been able to secure a bugler and a catafalque party again this year. Parents are warmly invited to attend. Defence members please wear dress of the day - the students especially appreciate seeing members in uniform. Special thanks to Brenda Galvin for all the organisation and behind-the-scenes work. Thank you also to Sarah Joost for preparing a reflection for Blake (Yr. 3) to read with his dad and Daniel McManus (Tamara Yr. 5) who will read the Peace Prayer.
Welcome
We warmly welcome Ms Karen Tozer to STM teaching staff. Karen will be teaching Yr. 5/6.

A Message from Anh Tran- Our Youth Minister
I just wanted to take this time to give you some insight into my role at St Thomas More’s as a Youth Minister.
For the St Thomas More’s Community:
- I run prayer experiences;
- I lead classroom religion lessons or workshops;
- I foster the link between the Parish and the school to encourage the students back into the life of the church;
- I assist with school and parish faith liturgies and sacramental programs and retreats;
- I have formed a Junior Youth Ministry team with our year five and six students so that they can lead the school in faith and grow ‘in their own’.
My overall aim is to build a strong foundation of faith in the lives of the children by encouraging and creating opportunities to experience a life in Christ in as many different ways as possible, in the hope that they continue to seek growth spiritually in high school and beyond.
St Thomas More's has introduced a new online portal called Compass. The parent Portal allows parents to receive information about your child’s school and their progress. It will give you access to school reports, messages, classroom blogs and the ability to submit attendance notes. The portal is accessible via the web and the Compass School Manager App (via the App store on your device).
This Parent Portal will make engaging with your child’s school faster, easier and more secure.
Login Id's have been sent to all parents. If you have not registered you will need to do so as the schoolzine absentee app will cease to operate.
WHAT YOU CAN DO
- Receive relevant messaging through the app or desktop
- Submit absence notes
- Give consent for events/excursions
- Communicate directly with teachers (desktop only)
- Book parent-teacher conferences
- Access your child’s academic reporting
- Update basic contact information knowing your data will remain secure
