It is hard to believe we are at the final week of Term One. It has been an inspiring term of learning for the students, most recently highlighted through our celebration of High Impact Teaching Practices through our coach spending a day visiting classrooms and working with staff. On top of our engagement in learning, we have grown as a community with our largest Parent Information Night, Working Bee and Grandparents Day events in the school's recent history. To top it all off, we also saw the introduction of our school canteen with Angie's Cafe.
Here are our reminders for the week:
- Pupil Free Days - Thursday 10 April will be the final day of term for students and Tuesday 29 April will be the first day of Term Two. This is due to the scheduled pupil free days at the start and end of each term to provide teachers with important professional learning and planning time.
- Fees - School fees are now overdue. Please complete payment if you have not done so. Next term we will be launching direct debit options for support our families who would prefer regular payments taken out.
- Mother's Day Raffle Donations - We are still encouraging donations for the Mother's Day hampers. Donations can be sent to the front office.
- St Edmund's Fundraiser - Thursday will be a uniform free day as we collect donations for the student's injured at St Edmund's.
- Project Compassion Boxes - back to school Thursday 10 April.
3/4W Staffing News
We would like to inform you that Miss Karen Tozer has made the decision to resign from her position as Classroom Teacher at St Thomas More’s to pursue alternative career opportunities. Karen’s last day at the school will be Friday 2 May.
We thank Karen for the contribution she has made to the lives of our students since commencing at the school in 2021. Of note is her certification as a Highly Accomplished teacher in 2024 and the significant impact she has had on our respect and connection for the First Nation people of Australia in her role as Contact Teacher for ATSI Education.
Advertising for a replacement teacher commenced yesterday. It is anticipated that the new 3/4W teacher will commence at the beginning of the term.
Inspiring Minds through Regional Swimming

We wanted to celebrate our regional swimmers with a photo of Max (Year 6) handing on his St Thomas More's Swimming Cap to Mitchell (Year 4). What a wonderful initiative for the boys to have engaged in as Max competed in his final regional swimming carnival representing St Thomas More's. Congratulations to all our swimmers who competed on the day.

Languages - Italian
This term in Italian we have been reading “Il Brucco Molto Affamato” (The Very Hungry Caterpillar). We have been learning about the days of the week, food, and the times of day. We have also been learning about colours and animals through singing different songs and playing games such as “mama mia” which involves asking questions and answering in Italian. K-6 played tombola (the Italian version of bingo) and Kindergarten to year 2 learnt how to say their name through playing the tamborino (the drum).
