Dear Parents and Carers,
Catholic Education Easing of
COVID-19 Restrictions – Term 3
We are very happy to welcome parents back onto school grounds for the beginning of Term 3. I do ask that parents physically distance themselves from each other, and especially teachers.
Some points to note regarding the easing of restrictions:
- Parent/Teacher interviews can resume. Parents to sanitise their hands as they enter the classroom and parents need to physically distance from teachers.
- Parents and volunteers can attend school sites. They must physically distance.
- Assemblies, gatherings and performances can resume with a maximum of 100 parents. Physical distancing of parents must be adhered to, as well as hygiene requirements.
Parent/Teacher Interviews
Parent/Teacher interviews will be held in Week 2 next term. We will hold them Wednesday and Thursday morning and afternoon. Parents will be able to book online in Week 1 next term, the link will be in the Newsletter. Just a reminder that school reports are for the information of parents; they are not written for students. It is up to you as to whether you share the report with your child.
Grandparents Day and Trivia Night
Unfortunately, we are unable to hold these events in Week 1 next term, as was communicated earlier in the year. Due to the vulnerability of our older grandparents, we will have to postpone Grandparents Day. We are very disappointed, but the restrictions placed on us are out of our hands. We hope to hold a community event in Term 4.
Kinder
Kinder are looking forward to wearing their pyjamas to school tomorrow to celebrate “Halfway through Kinder”. We usually celebrate “100 Days of Kinder” but with remote learning this year it hasn’t quite worked out! Keep an eye on our Facebook page for photos.
Dance lessons
Dance lesson start next term. They will take place every Wednesday in Term 3. They usually culminate is our annual Dance Display which everyone looks forward to. At this stage we’re not sure whether we can hold this event this year. We will decide sometime next term once we determine where the COVID-19 health updates are at.
Updated school bus timetables
Starting Term 3, Monday 20 July 2020. Transport Canberra is reminding schools, parents and carers that the updated public transport network starts on the first day of Term 3 (Monday 20 July). There will be minor changes for all students travelling to and from school. In most cases, this will mean that students will catch the same service from the same stop, but the times that service arrive, and leave may change. All schools, parents and students can find out more by checking the information packs for you school at www.transport.act.gov.au
Enjoy the holiday break and thank you for your support and understanding during the remote learning time. I would also like to thank you for not sending your child to school when they have been sick. It has been very much appreciated. Hopefully we have a more “normal” term after the July school holidays.
Yours sincerely
Principal
Congratulations to Ethan Golder who was recently awarded the ACT Junior Male Cricketer of the Year. The award recognised Ethan’s significant contribution to the team, individual performance and encouragement of others, including the other teams. Consistently looked at as a role model for others, Ethan is an incredible young cricketer. Well done and well deserved Ethan. Ethan was also awarded Best Batsman in the under 11 Division 1 cricket competition for Eastlake Junior Cricket Club.
In addition, Dominic Shoebridge was awarded Best Bowler, winning the under 11 Division 1 cricket competition for Eastlake Junior Cricket Club.
This was all achieved under the coaching of Ethan's father, Ken Golder.
Well done Team !!!!!
