ANZAC DAY Schools Award
St Thomas More’s has been selected as the Australian Capital Territory winner in the 2024 Anzac Day School Award. This award recognises our outstanding achievement and the judges were impressed with the opportunity the students were given this year in learning about our sporting houses, the veterans represented by our sport houses- Valour, Legacy and Honour, the guest speakers who were invited to share their stories and how all of this links to our School Creed.
We acknowledge Jess Gepp and Ariana Strmota who organised the day and submitted an application for this award.
A plaque and certificate has been provided to the school and our Defence School Mentors are considering how to spend our prize money and continue to recognise our Defence families and our school community in recognising our ANZACS and our past and present serving Defence members.

Literacy, Numeracy and Wellbeing Week
Week 7 is dedicated to wellbeing and I hope you are enjoying family time and a week free of homework commitments. It is also Literacy and Numeracy week. To recognise these important events the students had a VIP reader come to their class to read, they had a special hat day, attended a dance party and have completed numeracy problem solving exercises created by our numeracy leaders.
Kenny Koala
As part of Protective Behaviours this Term, Kenny Koala visited each class last Friday to discuss how we can 'Stay Safe for Life'. The presentations included information on making proactive decisions at home, at school and in the community to stay safe. Students were able to ask Kenny a range of questions about how to keep themselves safe, about people in our community who can support us to be safe and how we can Grow in Courage and seek solutions to a problem.

Father’s Day Breakfast and Open classrooms
Thank you to our 5/6 parents, particularly Sonya Hannan and Michelle Cowan for coordinating the breakfast and liaising with Ariana Strmota to ensure families had an enjoyable morning.
It was lovely to welcome families into classrooms where children showcased their learning and growth.
Dance Display
Save the date- Wednesday October 16th at 6pm. The children are busily rehearsing and polishing their dance routines in preparation for the dance display in Week 1 of Term 4. Next week you will receive information regarding what they are to wear, what accessories the school will provide and when to bring items in for a dress rehearsal before the end of term. Teachers select clothing items that the children should already have and will give you time to organise what the students need ahead of time.
Enjoy the rest of wellbeing week.
