Principal's Report

Dear Parents and Carers,

More Reminders” is sent out in even weeks (“More News” in odd weeks). “More Reminders” aims to include important dates and reminders, as well as publishing student awards. There are no awards as yet – our first Centred in Learning Gathering will be in Week 4.

Yr 6 Leadership Gathering

This Friday at 9am our student leaders will be presented with their badges.

Parent Information Night

Parent Information Night is next week (Week 3), on Tuesday the 18th of February. Please come along at 5.00pm to visit your child’s classroom and to meet their teacher. We are offering 2 sessions with the same information; First session will be at 5pm; second session at 5:40pm. This is not an opportunity for parent teacher interviews so if you think it is important to meet with teachers early in the year please make a separate time.

Supervision

Students are supervised each day from 8.20am until 3.30pm. I would like to remind parents of the importance of ensuring that children are not dropped at school prior to 8.20am. Before and After School Care is available at our school.

After School Care

With  an increased number of children attending this year, YWCA have reached capacity 2 afternoons a week, and very few spots are available on other afternoons. We are working with YWCA to extend their numbers. I will let you know when places have opened up.

Class Contacts

A letter was sent home to join the St Thomas More’s Parent Network. This network provides an opportunity for all parents to be connected with other families. We encourage all families to provide their details for the class contact list to promote communication and being kept informed of important class events. Please complete the form and return it to your child’s teacher by the end of this week.

We are also looking for one parent volunteer to be the “class coordinator” for each class. Being a class coordinator is a great way to get to know families in your child’s class and be involved in the school community. If you are interested in being a class coordinator or have any questions, please contact Julie Ogden at the Front Office.

Save the Date

Our welcome community breakfast will be on Friday February 28 (Week 4) from 8am. More details to come.

Yours sincerely,
