Principal's Report
Dear Parents and Carers,
This week we welcomed Toni Hatten-Roberts from Coglearn to our school. Toni will work with our staff over the course of the year on “high impact teaching practices”. Six of our teachers and members of the Leadership Team worked with Toni all day on Monday understanding the latest theory and evidence-based research for high impact teaching strategies. We are excited to begin the journey and have already put a few strategies in place in just two days! We will keep you informed along the way, as we anticipate some changes to our teaching practice, especially in the way we gain intentional control and the introduction of “daily reviews”.
Pupil Free Days
You may have noticed, when checking the school calendar, that there are two pupil free days scheduled this year – this means that staff attend but students do not. Both days have been added to the school holidays following Term 1 and Term 2. The first falls on Monday, 19th April and the second falls on Monday, 12th July. These days have been allocated by Catholic Education head office to allow staff to engage in professional learning corresponding to a new system-wide initiative called Catalyst that will be rolled out over the next 3 years. Catalyst empowers teachers with evidence-based professional learning in High Impact Teaching Practice, K-2 Literacy, quality curriculum resources and in-classroom coaching.
North/Gungahlin Swimming
Congratulations to the following students who will be attending the North/Gungahlin swimming competition on Monday: May Cuddihy, Philippa Hallam, Leah Shoebridge, Dominic Shoebridge, Ruby Kenny, Riley Bransdon, Isaac White. Elliot Head and Charlie Jorgenson.
Sacrament of Reconciliation
This Saturday many of our Yr. 2 students will receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Special thanks to Mrs Christine Washington for preparing the children so well this term. It starts at 11am.
Yr. 5/6 Camp
Next week our Yr. 5/6 students will be attending camp. It’s always such a great experience and the students (and teachers) have so much fun. Thank you to Mrs Gwen Tarleton, Mrs Madeleine Reid, Mrs Christine Washington and Mrs Amanda Lynch for attending and being away from their families so the students can have this experience.
Centred in Faith Gathering
On Monday we will have our Centred in Faith Gathering presented by Yr. 3/4G. It will start at 9am in Holy Faith Hall.
Yours sincerely,
Julie Wiley
