Keep CBR Kids Moving – Virtual workout

Join our free online workout made especially for the kids of Canberra to keep on moving at home. Alongside our Keep Canberra Moving event, our kids’ event will run every Wednesday at 4pm for the remainder of ACT lockdown. Recommended for kids aged 5+, with parents encouraged to join in! No equipment is required.

Our goal is to create an environment that supports and looks after the health and wellbeing of Canberrans, however this time we centre our focus around providing a platform to support kids, helping them to engage in physical exercises and connect with other kids of Canberra.

What are the benefits to kids and their parents?

  • Provides an opportunity to get kids moving and motivated in a fun environment, led by qualified coaches.
  • Improve overall health and well-being that boosts mood, ability to focus, sleep quality and encourages them to eat healthier.
  • Introduces full body functional movements that are the foundations for everyday life.
  • Assists in the development of strength, endurance, skill, balance, coordination and flexibility.
  • Engaging in a community with like-minded individuals.

When: Wednesday 8 Sept & 15 Sept @ 4pm

Portrait Gallery Competition

Students have your pencils sharpened, brushes out and cameras clicking this year in readiness for our newest portrait prize, Little Darlings

Entries have been rolling in from across the country for this student-only prize! That's right, student-only – with four separate categories across Kindergarten to Year 12. Responding to the theme ‘identity’, three winners will be chosen from each category by a panel of judges including our Director, Karen Quinlan AM.

Sound exciting? How about this too:

  • The twelve winning artworks will be framed by our Preparator and displayed in the Gallery alongside the Darling Portrait Prize next year.download.png
  • Our Imaging and Digitisation guru will photograph the works, which will be used to create a calendar designed by our Creative Manager.
  • The calendars will be available online, in the Portrait Gallery store, and in the mailboxes of the twelve winners!

We hope you've been beavering away this year getting ready, as entries close on Friday 8 October at 5:00pm AEDT.

The Little Darlings Portrait Prize 2022 is generously supported by Jillian Broadbent AC, Dr Helen Nugent AO, Alan Dodge AM, Hugo Michell, Penny Fowler, Yasmin Allen, Stuart Wood AM QC, Tim Bednall, Nigel Satterley AM & Denise Satterley.
